Safe & Compliant Building Demolition in Southern California
When it comes to building demolition, safety and compliance aren’t optional—they’re essential. At Ramirez Demolition Services Inc. (RDSI), we follow a proven process to ensure every project is completed safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with South Coast AQMD and local regulations.
🧾 Step 1: Comprehensive Asbestos Survey
Before demolition begins, a Certified Asbestos Consultant (CAC) must complete a comprehensive asbestos survey. Unlike a limited survey, this includes destructive testing, allowing the consultant to access hidden building materials that may contain asbestos.
✔️ Required by AQMD
✔️ Protects workers and the community
📑 Step 2: Notifications & Compliance
After the survey:
Demolition Notification is filed with AQMD
Asbestos Notification is submitted (if asbestos abatement is required)
👉 By law, any material containing more than 1% asbestos must be removed before demolition can begin.
🏛️ Step 3: Local Permits & Utilities
We coordinate all necessary permits and utilities before work starts:
Pull required city demolition permits
Contact electrical & gas providers for safe shutoff
Use DigAlert to locate underground utilities and prevent strikes
💧 Step 4: Dust & Water Control
Dust suppression is critical for community safety. Water must be available onsite through:
City water meters
Fire hydrants with backflow devices
Water trucks or tanks
🚰 This prevents fugitive dust and keeps air quality safe during operations.
🚜 Step 5: Skilled Operators & Equipment
Demolition requires technical expertise and heavy equipment operation. At RDSI, we use skilled operators and industry-leading machinery to ensure structures are brought down safely, quickly, and efficiently.
